Construction

This page shows the development of how we created our final production and ancillary pieces.

Amelia: "I felt the role of the antagonist was easy yet difficult ... I could be myself yet I then had to become someone I totally wasn't ... the character was interesting though"

Beth: "I felt I didn't get to fully understand my character as the trailer was through Amelia mainly ... I would have liked to have acted her as what the whole film would have been and discovered her as a protagonist"

From research, we were able to find out about the types of companies and the look. We decided to create our own instead of use one from the top Hollywood studies as that best reflects a low-budget/no budget film.

Below shows the methods, software and other necessities that we used to develop our overall trailer, poster and website.

We created our ancillary pieces mainly on Adobe Photoshop & even Powerpoint in order to check any spelling and resizing of the object. If we had access to more professional Software the appearance of both pieces could have looked better yet we are both still pleased with the outcome and the conventions we displayed.

We wanted to create a professional and effective looking poster to complement our film trailer that would in turn promote our film. Before we decided on our final poster, we first created multiple designs of  ideas of different ways to present our film poster and then took parts from each to create our final design. We kept the title and colours consistent throughout each design helping to create a brand image and identity.

From research, we decided our poster would be most effective if it matched the growing theme of having a simplistic graphic poster rather that one with many effects, text and information. This allows the audience that prefer this type of style (typically teens/young adults in the alternative sub-group) to be able to enjoy the poster more.

Below is an example of one design we created which gave us an idea of what our final poster should include. The title we believe should stay the same as its the main focus and eye catching part on the poster, it is also apart of the brands identity as it appears the same in the trailer keeping it consistent throughout. We also decided to keep the background colour as it helps to represent the genre of thriller and allows the title to stand out.The white writing was an issue with this poster as we believe it looks too boring and simple which wouldn't catch our audiences attention as they may not bother to read what it says.

From the image above we developed our final poster(as shown below). The poster does contain section of the original poster however we have adjusted parts to make it more eye catching and appealing towards our target audience.

This part will show the website home pages we decided to keep, discard and how we changed our minds.
